STONE: Catenary Dome

Humans have known for millennia the potential of catenary structures, but their use have slowly eroded. Today the arch is mostly utilized as a formalist parody of itself, born out of ignorance or laziness. In this study I explore this technology using modern parametric tools to create an auditorium. The enormous span and catenary domes shaped by the fabric of our reality creates majestic spaces. I have preserved the surface scars from extraction as a memory of the stones imprinted into the walls.
